APHA Founder Rebecca Tyler Lockhart Passes

Rebecca Tyler Lockhart, the horsewoman responsible, in 1962, for founding the American Paint Horse Association, passed away peacefully in her home in Gainesville, Texas, on May 31, 2015.
Rebecca launched the effort to register & promote stock-type horses with excessive color by first forming the American Paint Stock Horse Association which was the precursor to the APHA.
As the association’s first secretary, Ms. Lockhart worked tirelessly to promote the Paint Horse & was a major catalyst in paving the way for Paints at show venues across the country.
