How The Open Qualifying Works & What It Takes To Make It To Semi-finals At The NRHA Futurity

Here’s a breakdown on how the Open (all levels) go-rounds work here at the 2014 National Reining Horse Association Futurity, as well as the bubbles for the 2nd go of the Open.

The “bubble,” is the score you must have marked equal to or greater than in order to make it back to ride in the next go. The bubble for all Open levels for the 2nd go & for the Finals is listed below.
The 1st section of the 2nd go will begin this afternoon (Tuesday, 12/1). Riders will ride in the same sections as the 1st go (qualifiers from the 1st section of 1st go will ride today, 2nd section tomorrow, etc.). The draw is the draw from the 1st go but in reverse order (the 1st draw to qualify in the order from the 1st go will now ride last in the 1st section of the 2nd go).
How the bubbles are factored for the Open Finals:

Level 4 Open – Top 30 horses (plus ties)
Level 3 Open – Top 25 horses (plus ties)
Level 2 Open – Top 20 horses (plus ties)
Level 1 Open – Top 15 horses (plus ties)

Here are the bubbles for the Open Finals:

L1 – 419.5 (L1 riders must score a 219.5 or greater to compete in the finals)
L2 – 426
L3 – 428.5
L4 – 434

Congrats & good luck to everyone showing!
How the bubbles are factored for the semifinals:
Level 4 Open – Top 100 horses (plus ties)
Level 3 Open – Top 75 horses (plus ties)
Level 2 Open – Top 75 horses (plus ties)
Level 1 Open – Top 50 horses (plus ties)

Bubbles for the Open 2nd Go (semifinals):
L1 – 203.5 (L1 riders must score a 203.5 or greater to ride in 2nd go)
L2 – 209
L3 – 211
L4 – 212

The finals for the Open commence Saturday afternoon (12/6). Levels 1 – 3 will ride together at 1:00 PM & Level 4 will begin separately at 5:00 PM after an opening ceremony.
