NCHA Futurity Entries Increase

$3,500,000 purse offered
Entries in the Open Class of the NCHA Jerry’s Chevrolet National Cutting Horse Association Futurity, presented by Great American Insurance, are up 12.2% over last year.  The increase in Open Class participation is reflected across the board in all major divisions with the event’s prize fund exceeding $3,500,000.

The NCHA Futurity begins November 17 in Will Rogers Coliseum in Fort Worth, Texas, and concludes with the Open Class finals on Saturday, December 10.  For the first time in the show’s 55-year history, with the assistance of $100,000 in Bonus dollars contributed by Jerry’s Chevrolet and Great American Insurance Group, the top six Open Class finalists are each projected to take home checks of more than $100,000. The winner’s share is estimated at over $200,000.

“We’re excited about the great surge in entries for this year’s Futurity,” said NCHA President Chuck Smith. “The NCHA Futurity is the bellwether of our sport, so we’re looking forward to renewed growth throughout the Association.”

With its big purse and long tradition, the NCHA Futurity attracts the world’s best 3-year-old cutting horses who are making their competitive debut in Fort Worth. In addition to the Open Class, the show offers a full slate of Non-Professional and Amateur classes to cater to riders of every level of ability.

The Mercuria NCHA World Finals, held in conjunction with the NCHA Futurity, features the sport’s top older horses in 10 divisions scheduled from November 25 through December 3. World championship titles and year-end placings are on the line at the Mercuria NCHA World Finals.

Along with the competition, the Western Bloodstock, Ltd. NCHA Futurity Sales will offer nearly a thousand head of cutting horse prospects, seasoned show horses and breeding stock. The sales run from December 5-10.

In addition, the Best of the West trade show  in the Amon Carter Exhibit Hall  features the best Christmas shopping in the Dallas-Fort Worth metro-plex throughout the show.
