Palomino horses were in high demand at the National Reining Horse Association (NRHA) Markel Insurance Futurity Prospect Sale on Dec. 2 in Oklahoma City. Several of the highest sellers displayed the golden color, including Shine Dot Shine, who topped the sale at $100,000.
Prospects Unlimited LLC consigned Hip No. 2023, Shine Dot Shine, a double-registered stallion by Shine Chic Shine. David and Terry Stroud bought Shine Dot Shine, who is out of the Custom Crome mare Sugar Dot Gun. She is a half-sister to several money-earners including Nu Pops (by Nu Chex To Cash), an NRHA Futurity Open finalist with earnings of $87,475; American Paint Horse Association World Champion Junior Reining Horse The Sweet Spot (by Mark This Spot [PT]), NRHA European Futurity Non-Pro Co-Champion Pop Gun Cash BB (by Nu Chex To Cash); Whodini (by Who Whiz It), an earner of $47,873; and others.
Prospects Unlimited also consigned the second-highest seller, Hip No. 221, Makeit In Hollywood (Hollywoodstinseltown x SR Mischief Maker x Holidoc). The stallion is a half-brother to Make It With A Twist (by Dun It With A Twist), an NRHA Derby Non-Pro Co-Reserve Champion with earnings of more than $110,000. Julie Ridgeway paid $88,000 for the red dun stallion.
The NRHA Futurity Sales continue on Dec. 3 at 9:30 a.m. with the final session, the NRHA Markel Insurance Select Yearling Sale.
