How To Put On A Horse Blanket – With Pete Kyle
A Blanket With Front Buckles
Make sure the hooks are undone
Have a halter on your horse and a good hold on him while you put the blanket on.
Throw the blanket over his back and adjust it to sit correctly.
Hook the clasps in the front.
Connect the underside buckles crisscrossed over each other to give a better pull on the blanket and hold it even on both sides.
Make sure the blanket is adjusted correctly and you are done blanketing your horse!
A Blanket With No Front Buckles
With a closed front, slip the lead rope through the head hole and slip the blanket sideways over their head as not to scare them.
Keeping a hold of their head throw the blanket over their body and adjust it to fit.
Staying toward the front of their body adjust the front strap underneath.
When you go to connect the back straps run your hand down their leg so they know you are coming toward that area so you don’t scare the them.
Repeat on the other side again running your hand from the top of their hip down their leg so they know you’re there.
Adjust to make sure the blanket is sitting correctly and you are done putting on your horses blanket!
