Twenty-one horses took part in the Equidia Lyon International Reining Open on Oct. 29. This is the flagship class of the reining competition with $35,000 in prize money.
Dont Miss My Guns, a 6-year-old stallion owned by David Roux who will be used for breeding at the “Ranch de l’Etalon Blanc” in France, marked the high score – a 225 – with Italian trainer Gennaro Lendi. Dont Miss My Guns is by Colonels Smoking Gun (Gunner) and out of the Missin James mare Coronas Missin Star.
Austrian rider Rudi Kronsteiner, who shared the Reserve title with Belgian rider Cira Baeck last year, was again Reserve Champion this year on AB Peppy Diamond (OT Taris San Peppy x Mare Made x ARC Sparkle Surprise) with a score of 224.5. Baeck rode Gunners Snappy Chic (Gunner x Chics Miss Snap x Smart Chic Olena), a mare owned by Piet Metsdagh, to a 223.5 that tied for third with Belgian rider Bernard Fonck on Smart N Sparkin (Smart Chic Olena x Setting Off Sparks x Shining Spark), owned by 7 Heaven Reining Horses.
